The kids certainly did a good job of providing for another child in need this Christmas.  At least on of Syrai's parents is in prison this Christmas.  The gifts will be presented to her as gifts picked out by the incarcerated parent.  Thanks again for caring guys!

Choir Peeps A few things to remember for the upcoming weeks

1)            Candy Money – Due by December 20th, but PLEASE turn it in as soon as possible.  If you can’t sell your candy bring it back in good shape and I will sell it J

2)            Christmas Caroling Saturday, Dec 14th.  This is a community service effort in conjunction with the AVID people from our school.  If you want to participate please meet us at Indian Oaks Nursing Home in Harker Heights at 9am.   I will provide music sheets and a treat.  Please bring a santa hat, antlers etc….  The event is over at 11am.

3)            Christmas Concert – Tuesday, Dec 17th.  Please be at Ellison HS by 6:30 pm. 7/8 kids are in black dress/shoes(no heels) or White tux shirt, cummerbund, bowtie, black pants/shoes/socks/belt. 6th are in choir t-shirt and jeans. This is a required concert.  Please contact us if there is a problem.  Remember to get your dress or shirt!!

4)            Extra rehearsal for Christmas Concert – We will have a one time 7/8 girl and boy rehearsal on Tuesday, December 17th right after school until 4pm at the latest.  Please make arrangements to stay here till 4.

5)            Angel Tree Kid:  Please bring by your gift by this Friday(Dec 8) if you want to help an 11 year old girl have a merry Christmas.  She is size 14, and wants clothes, drawing and jewelry making stuff.  Wrapped or unwrapped. 

6)            Region Kids(7/8) – We continue to have sectionals every morning and we are also rehearsing in class by section.  Remember you need to come to all sectionals.  If you need a CD let me know. The actual try-out is on Sat, January 25th   all day at Belton HS(we will take a bus), the mock audition is on Tuesday, January 14th from 6-9 pm at Union Grove(no bus). If you makes the choir it is on Sat. Feb 1 at Killeen HS all day(no bus)

Liberty Hill Middle School Choir 
this is an opportunity to show this child what kind of angels we really are

Please drop off a wrapped gift for Syrai to the choir room by Friday, December 6.

Syrai needs clothes and drawing supplies.
It looks like she is a size 14.  I assume this is a kid's 14 and probably her shirt size would be a medium or large.

Hobby lobby has 40% off one item coupons every week if you sign up for emails on their website.  This would be a good place to get stuff.

OPPORTUNITY to spread some love and cheer and perform COMMUNITY SERVICE during the CHRISTMAS SEASON
 
We have been asked to participate in a Christmas Caroling Event with the Avid team and Spanish Club.

DATE/TIME:  Saturday, December 14th from 9 to 11 am 
PLACE: Indian Oaks Nursing Home.  
TRANSPORTATION: Parent drop off/pick up

I will try to get some santa hats together for the kids.  If you have a santa hat already that is great! 
More information will be given soon




Region try-outs are in January, but students will need to put the work in now if they want to make the cut.  The judges will select 40 girls for each section and about 25 boys for each section.

If you want to try out for region we will provide a rehearsal CD to help you out when you want to practice alone at home.  Just bring in a CD if you have one or if that is a problem we can provide one for you :)


Dr. Tucker and I will be providing sectional times until the try-out as follows:
Morning Sessions will be from 7:30-7:55
Afternoon Sessions will be from 3:35-4:15 
**please note that we have a staff meeting on the first wed of every month)

Monday am and pm - Alto Girls
Tuesday am and pm - Soprano 1 Girls
Wednesday am and pm - Soprano 2 Girls **
Thursday am and pm - Tenor 1, Tenor 2 and Bass Boys
Fridays - open for additional help TBA

The Killeen Choir Teachers first Region Camp was a lot of fun and a lot of work.  I sure am proud of the kids that were able to make it.  We will only improve the experience for next year!

Holiday Concert moved to December 17th, Tuesday at Ellison High School at 7pm

Hey Everyone!
We have moved the Holiday Concert to Tuesday, December 17th at 7pm.  Concert will be at Ellison High School again. 

We moved the concert because of basketball conflict.  So there is no concert on December 5th. It is on the 17th!

Girls will wear black dresses if they are in 7/8th grade.  Please remind you student to come by and get fitted.  I have been sending the dresses home with an attached note.  Remember that the girls will also need black flat shoes.

Boys in 7/8th grade will wear tux shirts, bow ties and cumerbunds.  These have been checked out to the boys.  Please read the attached notes.  I will be sending them home with the shirts and other items soon. Remember they also need to have black pants, black belt, and black shoes.

6th grade students will wear their choir t-shirt and jeans.

Your kids are awesome and precious!  Have a blessed week!

for all students that attended Solo and Ensemble there is a party this Friday, October 18th
 in the choir room from 3:45-4:45. I will provide pizza, drinks and a sweet

Students may bring food - no peanut - allergies.

Mandatory Fall Concert

Hey Choir!
Our first concert is this week!

PLACE:  Ellison High School.. Please park in front of the auditorium and go into the building and find your assigned seat when you arrive. We will be sitting in concert row order so we can get on and off the stage easily as a group.

TIME & DATE:  Thursday, October 17th.  The concert starts at 7:30 with the 6th grade students performing first.  Please be in your seat by 7:15 at the latest......

DRESS:  
6th grade boys/girls : jeans and your new choir t-shirt.  Please tuck in your shirt
              
7/8 Men : any combination of BLACK, White, or Grey.

Period 3 - 7/8 Concert Women:  Dark colors - pants or dress or skirt. NO HIGH HEELS.

Period 4 7/8 Women:  Fall/Halloween colors - pants, shirt, dress, or skirt. NO HIGH HEELS.

GRADE:  This is a mandatory concert.  Students will receive a summative grade for this concert.  This is their final test for the 9 weeks.
There will be three grades given. 1-Attendance, (did you arrive on time and stay the entire time) 2-Participation (singing on stage) 3-Audience Etiquette (did you conduct yourself in an appropriate manner while at the concert). 
Students are expected to be on time, sing their best, and remain in the audience until the concert is over.  If a student leaves after they perform they will receive a "0" for audience etiquette portion, therefore earning a grade of 66 for the concert.  Please do not take your student after they perform unless you have an emergency.

we will be in full attire for our Christmas Concert on December 5th. This means the women will be in their black dresses with new scarves and guys in their tux shirts.  I will be sending home information about this very soon.

SOLO & ENSEMBLE INFO - Hey Liberty Hill Middle School Choir!

Saturday, Oct 5th  is Solo and Ensemble at Manor Middle School.

We have 183 entries! I know everyone is going to do a great job!

WHAT SHOULD I DO??????

- Be at Manor Middle School at least 15 minutes before your performance time.  You will want to warm-up before you sing.  Please report to the cafeteria.  It is just inside the door on the left.

- Wear nice clothes.  no t-shirts with slogans.  Look nice for the judges!

- Please ask your parents to wait for you.  Parents may wait in the cafeteria or in their cars for their student.  Sorry, no one is allowed in the room while the students perform.

- Medals and Certificates will be awarded on Monday for all events.

-There will be no concessions at this event. :(

-We will have a party for all participants! Will most likely be after-school on a Friday.  TBA

Everyone should walk away with a medal because everyone is capable of doing superior work this Saturday!  I look forward to meeting your family!

As you enter the building please check in at the cafeteria

Your Student will be done very quickly so you may wish to remain in the parking lot or the cafeteria as you wait for your student to finish.

Parents are not allowed in the judging rooms - sorry :(
